The Bottom Line
Cupid Junction is not
going to win any awards for originality, and the searching features appear
to be a bit hit and miss. However, it's a down-to-earth sort of site, and
it's quick to post a free profile. We would suggest if you live outside
the USA then there are better options out there, but for those living in
America the number of members makes Cupid Junction worthy of
consideration.
Membership
More than three million, with a claimed 75 thousand new
members every week. Cupid Junction is part of the "Relationship Exchange"
network of dating sites and so shares it's database with other services.
Profile Detail
Profiles are basic, with a few "age / size / hair colour"
type questions, and two free text areas in which to add some personal
detail and detail about the type of person you might be looking for. Once
you have completed your profile, you have the option of specifying if you
are looking for casual dating partners, more serious long-term romance, or
"intimate encounters", or any combination of those. You can then go on to
get a bit more specific if you want, by selecting more pre-set details
such as activities you enjoy, hobbies and interests and so on. Up to three
photos may be added.
Searching
Searching can be performed by specifying various profile
criteria, and location of course. Unfortunately the location based
searching for countries outside of the USA is a bit random, with profiles
turning up from around the world! Strangely, search results are shown for
all three communities (dating, romance, and intimate) by default and it's
necessary to subsequently filter these if you want to be specific. You can
elect to have new matches emailed to you.
Coverage
The whole world is covered, but
the membership is very much biased towards the USA.
Safety
Profiles are instantly posted. Photos are checked before being
made available.
How much can be done for free
It is necessary to register for free
before searching, a quick two-page process although there are some further
confirmation screens to double check age, sexual orientation and so forth.
Once registered with a profile, all searching is free, and full profiles
can be viewed including photos. It's also free to send an ice-breaker, and
an interesting feature of Cupid Junction is that when you've sent three
such ice-breakers the system will look for other members that have similar
profiles. Contact can only be made by upgrading to premium membership,
which then allows both text and voice messages to be sent. Messages can be
replied to without upgrading. Membership can be purchased on either a
rolling month or a 3 month block basis, the latter working out cheaper per
month.
Site speed and ease of navigation
Although Cupid Junction is not
blazingly fast, it is easy to find your way around.
